Little do people know that Jack Kirby SINGLE HANDILY saved Marvel Comics and literally stopped them from closing the doors. Seriously, they were taking out the furniture when Jack showed up one day and made them stop. All Jack wanted back then was a little respect and acknowledgment and a new title from the company he saved and the NEW industry he spawned from his imagination. Marvel Comics has made BILLIONS off the back of Jack’s creations and energy, but all he saw from it was a page rate and NO contract. He didn’t even want his “fair share”
All these years later, and billions of dollars in movie money and licensing based off things Jack created, and Marvel has never dropped ONE DIME to the estate of Jack Kirby. That’s fucking sad. What’s even more sad is, the MAIN thing keeping that company going is still Jack Kirby’s creations. It’s why they never really came up with anything new… just the same characters and stories rehashed over and over again. They just bring in new Stan Lees to change the words around.
Now that DISNEY owns Marvel and has money to spare, MAYBE they’ll do the right thing. Of course we’ve heard the rumors of how evil they can be too… but here’s a BIG chance for both of these companies to step up and do the honorable thing. Wouldn’t that be an awesome story and make you believe in heroes again? Imagine if the Jack Kirby Museum had the backing of Disney Dollars???
Disney, do what’s right. Hook up these old schoolers and their estate. Walt would have loved that. Remember Walt? That guy who made you?

But Bob’s right, you know. Disney’s full of FUCKING EVIL. Funny thing about watching these big, evil companies swallow up smaller, evil companies…it’s like watching a black hole being formed.
It just gets bigger and bigger and sucks harder and harder. Hopefully, it’ll collapse in on itself one day and we’ll be rid of it.

What a load of b.s ! Anyone and everyone knows that Stan Lee was THE sole mind and creator behind the famed Marvel titles and characters that changed the comic world and can be seen at your local movie theater right now. Jack Kirby was just the artist hired out to the WRITER – the WRITER being Stan Lee and the one man who invented the titles and the characters within. Kirby was just a hired hand to the true visionary of Stan Lee.Spider- Man , X-Men, The Avengers and Thor ( soon to be in your movie theater! ) are ALL Stan Lee works. Marvel knows it , the fans know it and Stan Lees bank account knows it. Nuff said. Wow. Read up . At least try and learn something about comic books before you complain about them.Have you and the fan boys who commented ever even read those comic books or seen whose name is on the movie credits? The Kirby heirs included Spider-Man in their copyright lawsuit, when all Jack did was re-draw the cover to Amazing Fantasty #15. As a result, their cause loses a lot of points with me. And because of the litigation, Disney can’t offer anything without it being used against them in court. A pox on both their houses.

Ah, the misinformed public fanboys… There’s a damn good reason they did include Spider Man. Kirby actually handed in designs for Spiderman, along with the logo and origin story. “Uncle Ben” was a long running concept in Kirby’s stories (named after his father, Ben) – Story goes, Stan, the editor at the time didn’t like the artwork Kirby had done on the pages saying Kirby drew him too buff and Stan envisioned it as a puny teenager, which Ditko drew way better. Marvel “lost” the art Kirby had done, but Kirby still had the character designs and logos he came up with. If it weren’t for Jack, Spider-Man would have NEVER even started. That’s not to demean the new life Steve Ditko breathed into the character… but the truth is, Jack handed in the idea, Stan got Ditko to draw it, and then Stan took all the credit. Don’t believe me? Go ask Ditko himself, who couldn’t argue with these facts. Good luck with that!
In interviews Kirby explicitly stated that he considered Ditko to be the man behind spider-man. This comic completely misrepresented the facts. yes stann lee got too much credit, but he did deserve some of it. Calling him a hack and syaing he just changed the words around is a complete fabrication.
I wouldn’t be so sure about what Ditko would say. Check out his editorial cartoon from “Ditko Package” #5. (About 3/4 down the page.)
